Helping others live a better life, Debera, Bart and John:

• Arranged for a comfortable home that would give an elderly lady much attention and supervision to prevent falls and manage her medication.  The owners also agreed to accept her beloved cat. ... The alternative would have been a nursing home.
• Helped an elderly gentleman transition from independent to supported living by finding a placement for him that would accept his VA benefits so that he wouldn't have to pay for services.  This helped greatly in reducing stress on the family.
• Helped a very elderly lady return to her home following placement in a nursing home.  Round the clock nursing and personal care was arranged, and she was very happy to be at home for her last few months of life. 
• Worked with a family of several children to help them come together to help their mother make plans for the future.
• Through short-term counseling, helped a young man adjust to the recent loss of his foot.
• As a guardian, assisted a developmentally challenged woman become more independent by helping her find job support, and consequently a job that she is very happy and successful in.  Also helped her to obtain needed benefits.  Her self esteem and sense of worth is now much higher than before.
• Working together with a fiduciary, assisted an elderly man adjust to the loss of his spouse (who was also his caretaker) and transition from his home to a very comfortable senior residence.  He received lots of special attention to ease the process to a new home!
• Successfully appealed two denials for life insurance after the claims deadline date.  These funds enabled an elderly widow to remain in her own home.
• Provided support and services to a man who was in jail due to charges related to alcohol.  Supported his getting on probation and into AA, and took him to these appointments.  He has now been clean and sober for over three years, and is successfully living in the community.
